High-Speed Welding Automatic Tracking System for Stainless Steel Tubes

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ system features an automated laser tracking and correction for the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding process of stainless steel seam tubes. It is a direct solution to the problems of increasing labor costs and the degradation of welding quality caused by operator visual fatigue during manual operations. This breakthrough system combines sophisticated intelligent vision technology with optical, mechanical, and electrical engineering and hence provides a solution that is unique and currently unmatched in the domestic market.


The system works by using a visual acquisition system to take a picture of the welding scene in real-time along the weld seam and the tungsten electrode. The visual information is then processed by advanced vision technology to measure with great accuracy the deviation or displacement of the tungsten electrode. The recently obtained very accurate offset information is instantly applied to the control of an electromechanical device that adjusts the position of the tungsten electrode between the two electrodes.


This ongoing and very accurate automatic adjustment is capable of accurate tracking during steel tube welding; hence, unattended, high-quality welding operations can be ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌realized.
