Bright Annealing: The Key to a Bright Surface for Stainless Steel Tubes

Bright annealing is a crucial step in the production of stainless steel tubes. It involves heating the tubes to a specific temperature in a protective atmosphere and then rapidly cooling them to eliminate internal stresses, improve their microstructure, and ultimately produce stainless steel tubes with a bright surface and excellent performance. However, the control of bright annealing process parameters has a significant impact on the final product quality.

Temperature Control: 

The bright annealing temperature is one of the key factors affecting the quality of stainless steel tubes. Too low a temperature cannot effectively eliminate stress and improve microstructure, while too high a temperature may cause the tubes to overheat and reduce their strength and ductility. Therefore, precise control of the annealing temperature is essential. In general, the bright annealing temperature range for stainless steel tubes is 1040°C to 1120°C.

Protective Atmosphere: 

During bright annealing, the protective atmosphere plays a vital role. It isolates oxygen and other impurities in the air, preventing the surface of the stainless steel tube from oxidation and discoloration. Hydrogen is a commonly used protective gas, and its purity should be above 99.99% to ensure the bright annealing effect.

Furnace Sealing:

The bright annealing furnace must be tightly sealed to prevent outside air from entering the furnace. Even the slightest leak can cause the surface of the stainless steel tube to oxidize and discolor, affecting the final product quality. Therefore, it is crucial to regularly check the furnace seal and replace the seals in a timely manner.

Gas Pressure: 

To prevent leakage of the protective gas, the protective gas inside the bright annealing furnace should be maintained at a slight positive pressure. In general, the positive pressure of the hydrogen protective gas should be maintained above 20 kPa.

Furnace Material Drying: 

The furnace material inside the bright annealing furnace should be kept dry to prevent moisture from entering the furnace atmosphere. In addition, the stainless steel tubes entering the furnace should also be kept dry to avoid residual moisture affecting the bright annealing effect.

By strictly controlling the above factors, the bright annealing process can bring about excellent performance and a bright appearance for stainless steel tubes, making them widely used in the fields of petrochemical, food processing, medicine, and other fields.
